How You Can Help

An estimated 2,000 to 3,000 orangutans are killed every year and there are only around 50,000-65,000 orangutans left in the wild. Sadly, within this lifetime we could see orangutans go extinct in the wild.

There are lots of projects working around the world, especially in Southeast Asia to help orangutans. , some raise awareness and funds for NGO’s whilst others work on the ground to with the vision of increasing the size and health of Bornean orangutan populations, bringing them back from the brink of extinction.

By apply to volunteer you will be able to learn more about orangutans, work together with charities, wildlife organisations and NGO’s and help address the issues affecting the plight of orangutans and develop solutions for their long-term survival through shared knowledge.

Most orangutan projects operate in a responsible and ethical manner throughout operations, encouraging partners and volunteers to do the same. Placements are generally hands off without any direct contact with the animals, unless you are a veterinarian.
