Amigos de las Americas

I am hoping to get some feedback about the Gap Year Programs offered after High School with AMIGOS. I was considering a 3 week service trip with college credit to Costa Rica or Paraguay but when I type Amigos De Las Americas the top result is "Amigos de las Americas" scandal?! I can't find any information about this though but it has made be worried about whether to book the summer trip or not. Are they legitimate to book with?
