Are companies like CIEE, IES Abroad, CIS Abroad, Carpe Diem Education a rip off?

Hi all, I'm researching learning / summer study / intern abroad programs and I made a short list of companies:
• CIEE
• IES Abroad
• CIS Abroad
• Carpe Diem Education
... but is it me or are they a total rip off? They charge around $25,000 which is such a lot of money to pay.
Does anyone have any experiences with these companies or recommendations for cheaper / better programs?

Hi, did you make an application for this summer, which company did you go with? I've been looking at the CIEE French Language and Culture program but I'm hesitant because of the price.
