Are gap years dead?
I am thinking about doing a gap year but when I speak to friends they say the whole gap yah thing is not a thing anymore? Do people still do it? I don't want to be alone lol.
Well I'm planning to take one and I hope I'm not alone!!

Thank you for joining our forum and welcome. We are biased as we run this website, but gap years definitely aren't dead. There have been some articles in the media recently along these lines too and some people can be quite negative/condescending towards the whole gap year experience.
Covid really hit the travel market badly, with big companies like STA Travel going out of business but there is still a huge interest in going backpacking, working, volunteering and studying. Traffic and enquiries to our website are up from pre covid levels and we can't really see a time when people don't want to travel.

What is better, working a mundane 9-5 or going backpacking and exploring the world?! Everyone should take a gap year if the opportunity is there.
