Do I need to tip in Asia?

Ok so I didn't want to post a new topic in every country I plan to go.

I plan on going to; India/Thailand/Laos/Vietnam/Cambodia/Malaysia/Singapore/NZ/Japan.

Is tipping a thing in hotels/hostels/restaurants? I but couldn't find out if I am expected to tip and any help would be great.

Not at all in SE Asia,and not in India or Japan.Neither in a hotel nor in a hostel....

Don't know about NZ.....but I'd be very surprised if anyone tipped in a hostel there.Maybe in fancy hotels?

Nah you don't this is more of a US/Europe thing.
