GVI or Projects Abroad

Has anyone volunteered with either of these companies? My parents want me to have a safe planned volunteer experience so we are considering gvi or projects abroad. The prices for both companies are really expensive and so I don't want to make the wrong decision. If anyone can help me thanks.
