Is a gap year better before or after uni?

I don't know whether to defer entry to uni for a year, or start and do one after. What does everyone think?

I think this really is a personal choice for what feels best for you. I would veer towards going before, as sometimes when you finish uni you might need money so start job hunting and then you might not get time off for years?!

I did a 12 month trip after uni, as soon as I finished I worked for 6 months to save the money then left for Asia, Australia and America. I'm glad I did it this way and loved my trip. You could also work a part time job at uni if you have the time to save the money and leave straight after.

The most important thing is that you actually take one (but we are slightly biased).
